Visual Fault Identifiers (VFIs), or Visual Fault Locators (VFLs), are used to inject visible light energy into a fiber. AFL’s compact VFI4 injects high-powered red-laser light to provide exceptional brightness and range for locating sharp bends, breaks, faulty connectors, and other faults. The VFI4 is about the size of an automotive key-fob and packs a powerful Class 3R red laser with a 10 km range. It is powered by one universally available AA battery which will last for more than 30 hours in flashing mode. The VFI4 features a 2.5 mm universal adapter that accepts PC and angled FC, SC, ST, etc. connectors. There is an option for 1.25 mm universal adapter for LC and MU connectors.
