The CT50 features automated blade rotation, unprecedented durability, and simplistic maintenance unseen with any other cleaver. Paired with a Bluetooth enabled Fujikura splicer, cleaver blade positions can be automatically advanced when needed based on cleave count or cleave quality.
The FC-8R is Sumitomo Electric Lightwave’s newest 1-Step optical fiber cleaver with automatic blade rotation and a digital cleave counter. It is the ideal tool for use in fusion splicing, field termination, or any application that requires precision in a confined space. It has a simple cleaving operation that can be performed in the palm of the hand, allowing the user to take the cleaver to fiber in limited slack or cramped applications. A built-in extra large fiber scrap collector handles scrap fibers resulting from the cleaving process.
Solid Cleaver01/21/2020 ByJohn H All around solid unit.Easy to use, easy step set up. Trouble shooting: 98 % of the time all it needs is a cleaning of the pads. Blade has never been out of alignment from being dropped. Easy to take a part and clean, and wont mess with alignment of the blade cleaving. Cons: fibers do get stuck in the collection wheel causing the auto lid open to become sluggish or not open at all. This can be fixed with some tweezers 98% of the time. Occasionally the unit will need to be taken apart by 85% for cleaning of the sliders and collection wheel and gears. Blade height adjustments can problematic, seeing as there is no indication of increments of height. Its like a gentle guessing game on a slider bar. But all around is better unit than AFL, Fiber Fox. All of these i use on a daily. But the Sumitomo is by far still the best choice.
